Oh, My Aching back!

26 Feb

After moving all those boxes of junk upstairs, not to mention the 4 bookcases, Sweet Thing and I are both down in our backs. I woke up around 4:00 am and my back was hurting so bad I couldn’t go back to sleep so I just got up. I took some Aleve and put a heat pad on my back and the pain went away. My back muscles are still tight and stiff, but at least I am not in pain.

If any of you have back pain, I highly recommend these heat wraps. These wraps work with your own body heat, and when activated work similarly to those small hand and foot warming packets. The big difference is these wraps will stay hot for 16 hours! I have worn them for that long even though the directions say not to go over 12 hours. One caution, if you take them off even 20 minutes, they will go cold and won’t heat back up. So If you take them off to take a shower or some other reason, you will have to apply another one. They always make my back feel so good I don’t want to ever take them off! I always try to keep a supply of these on hand. I don’t know how long they would last stored away in the pantry, the box I am holding has an expiration date of 4/2015. The wraps contain iron silicate and come in a sealed wrapper to avoid exposure to oxygen which starts the chemical reaction to cause heat. I wonder if I sealed them in a bucket with an oxygen absorber, would that keep them viable for long-term storage? Oh, something else I just read on the label, if you are over 55 years of age, don’t wear the wrap directly against the skin. Place a thin layer of cloth between the wrap and your skin, I guess us old folks are too sensitive to wear these wraps without taking proper precautions. HAHA!
