Antiques and Collectables; Farm Thermometer

9 Aug

I also have this nice old thermometer which is mounted on a wall. It is an advertising gimmick for Mathieson Anhydrous Ammonia Company.

But you can also remove it from the mounting.

It has a threaded hole to mount it on the end of a pole and the thermometer can be inserted into a pile of hay to check and make sure it is not getting too hot.

I also have this book titled Farmers Figures from 1911.

The cover page claims it contains over 100,000 calculations already made for you, just look them up in the tables. And yes kids, this was before the days of the electronic calculator and you had to look it up or work it out yourself with a pencil and paper. Oh, Horrors!!
