Vapor Trails

20 Sep

Today was one of those perfect Fall days, the temperature was 70 degrees with very low humidity. There was not a single cloud in the bluebird sky, only jet vapor trails.

As I looked up, I could count 15 vapor trails running in every direction. An hour later I looked up and counted 15 more, then in the next hour 20 more. It just got me to thinking, where are all those people going and why are they all in such a blasted hurry that there needs to be 15-20 jets in the sky at all times? Can’t we all just slow down a little and enjoy a nice leisurely drive somewhere? I detest flying now-a-days, and I only do it once or twice a year, and I plan on doing it less and less in the future. I plan on parking my rear-end on our homestead and taking it easier for a change. I just hope the world will hold together long enough to let us enjoy our peace and quiet on the homestead. But until then, be prepared!

when my husband retired from the usmc we were in okinawa japan…we flew home to our southern homestead then, and that is the last time either of us have boarded an airplane. that was january of 1989 when the emporor of japan died….when we landed at l.a. international airport, we had some usmc retirement business to take care of and then it was off to find a rental car or buy a junker and traveled by auto cross country…no more planes for us.

Oh, if you haven’t flown since 1989 you would just LOVE it now. You can get up close and personal with a friendly TSA agent at every checkpoint. You would be groped and mauled then body scanned for all the world to see! Your Papers Please!!
